Dear All,
This is a very solemn posting. Ex-President of The Republic of Singapore, Dr Wee Kim Wee, passed away yesterday morning (2nd May 2005) at 0510, of recurring prostate cancer. He was 89 years old.
He was known to be the "People's president", where he was really actively involved in the lives of the citizens in Singapore... He was the one who opened up the Istana, so that the lives of the president and citizens can be connected together
my thoughts
He became president when i was exactly 7 years old, in 2nd Sep 1987... Hmmm.. i never been to the Istana before, but i remembered him as a very fatherly.. eh.. i mean grandfatherly figure... He has this look lah.. very grandfatherly.. And he is a very personal person, that's what i really admired lah.. though he was president, he didn't stay at the Istana, instead he lived in his house at Siglap...
