Looking back on 2006: One year of flash back

Last year in 2005, i made a summary of happenings in the year, and i will do the same for this year, seeing that there's only like 1 day to go before 2007 comes. It's going to be very memorable for me, yet i want to say good bye to this year, and welcome the new year = new things = new challenges = throwing away what's old. :)

Here goes!!!

January 2006
I
started my job as a Recruitment Consultant at Mass Power Services Pte Ltd. In January, i had to step out of my comfort zone, learning what's stenography, and having a very nice guy (Justin) to teach me. He's like a teacher to me, initiating to guide me on what it was. Anyway, to make it simple, stenography means short hand. See, lay people like me won't know what it means, until i was taught.

Also i started with my tuition assignment with my crappy-tuition kid, Nigel. Talking about him, i kinda missed him lah. Missed his crappiness. Well, he's scored quite ok at PSLE and is going to normal stream. Back to him: Hmmm... he has a chicken-little hairstyle. Still playful and loving his nickalodean channels.

In my first month at Mass Power, i closed 2 orders, namely: a telemarketer with the company that carries Zoe-"i swallow"-Tay, and which, incidentally is e9's client too. Also the other one, is a Accounts Officer. Supposed to close another but....

February 2006
The main thing about this month, is still about Mass Power. Because in this month, Tony, Rose, Jay and myself, we uprooted ourselves from the comforts of Bugis Village, to reside in the brrrr-cold-like-winter Burlington Square. And our direct neighbor is **S, another Recruitment Agency, just next door. Guess we really gave them lotsa pressure. Work wise, i got quite a lot of different orders to work on. And sales target to increase.

In this month, i have 2 friends whose family members passed away, at the same day.

I often talk to WY online. But Dap, i hasn't really seen her for quite a while.

March 2006
This month, Mass Power started on the ISO certification process. There was quite a bit of work on our part as well as Mother nature. Because, we kill the trees very often, think Mother Nature is starting to hate us a lot!!!

Career fair in the same month!! Aiyo. Sacrificing a saturday to commit to my part in the MP booth, so that i can attend cg, and conduct interview. In this month, i closed my biggest sales so far: Financial Analyst!!! Wow... this month is really a cool month, and i really felt so happy about it.

This month, i had a candidate who's super ma-fan. Aiyo!! Thinking about her i sianz. She wants a temp job, i give her, then she complaint that the place too far blah blah blah. And disturb me in the midst when i was tutoring!!!! And she calls to insult, saying that she worked at an Attorney's and knows the laws etc etc etc.... Aiyo. Because of her i kena Migraine for days. Thank God for Tony, who knows how to tekan her back. If not i think i really stuck there. This month, my health started to go hay-wire, with migraines, headaches and dizziness... Eeeek!!!

Not to mention running candidates!!! Argh! And this candidate who brought reinforcements to discuss on the case that i was supposed to close in January. And the nerve. And Tony, once again, rescued me out of it, and the issue was settled.

In this month, Mass Power also said Bye-bye to Rose, who quitted. And Boss talked to Jay and myself, that we are not affected/stressed by her departure.

I nearly cock-up at the ISO audit... but Thank God that Tony (once-again) managed to salvage the situation. And from there, i need to do my filing more carefully.

Yucks, and the grosteque scene i saw on the MRT....

April 2006
This month, Rachel, a colleague and Jay's gf, left Mass Power for a greener pasture. And this is the month where i kinda realized that Tony's gonna leave.... well, i happen to sit in front of him...

Was involved in the Easter production for the year, and it was really great to serve God in this season. The anointing was strong even though u know, i have seen the drama at least ... many times!! But it was so good.... and yah, times came where my tears had to do a 'gostan', but it was really very good.... love the song, on how Judas sang the song 'Then came You'....

It was a stressful month overall, with more migraines and dizziness that i kena called back for counselling with boss a few times....

May 2006
This month, the GOVERNMENT is very nice to us by giving us the Progress Package. And Nigel's getting crappier as ever!!! In this month, the most significant thing that affected me the most is Tony's leaving Mass Power. And he's left for a better place, a place where he gets to do what he really desire : Systems Integration. But occasionally, he will call back, and come by to visit, to assist in our IT stuff. He's the man (not the chicken). Because of his departure, Derek, Damien and Aaron came to Burlington.

Another big thing that happened, is the Elections which, (sure one lah) the PAP will win hands down. And the appearance of SDP (Dr CSJ) not garnering any votes didn't seem to be surprising. Yup, CSJ is the guy who tried to defame our MM, SM etc... Currently, there wasn't any news about him except him being a 'tua-pai' even in jail, refusing jail food and wants home-cooked food... See, this fella, super 'tua-pai'

This month, uncle and auntie found out that EiFang got cancer of.... it was a very emotional time for Eifang and Auntie. We try not to talk about it because when Chien once asked, both of them will cry. Thank God, as of now, EiFang's in remission, and has started to go back to study in ITE.

This is also the month in which i conducted Side-board training. And i'm proud to say that of the 4 people that i managed to train, most of them are doing very well!!! So proud of them!!! Also,i'm the test-tube baby for Easyworship, which of course, got mistakes lah. But as of now, all our Mainboard systems use that.

I went to register to learn class 2B.... but until now, i only went for the theory classes....

June 2006
Emerge 2006 saw a star-studded Conference with stars like Kelly Poon, Junyang and Taufik Bautisah coming to sing and to inspire the youths in the church.

The world cup fever also swept through Mass Power, with many of the guys turning up late for work. And how we found out that Elvin, is the 'suay-sin' because whatever he says will win, always lose.. Except for one. Lol. That was a funny time.

In the wee hours of 16th, Rongsheng was killed in a hit-and-run accident near his house. I only found out in the night, when Sab called me. It was a time of 'i can't believe it' and it didn't seem real even though i saw his body in the coffin. Even when his body is turned into ashes, it was really hard to believe that he's gone, forever. Until now, i do not know if the hit-and-run driver has been caught. Hope he is.

This month has been a month where i realized that the person-who-shaped-my-spiritually-life is not doing well and is not in church (recently i heard that he's back and is in another service - so far i hasn't sighted him yet!!! ) . And another person, who's strong in the faith in CG, and serving faithfully in Security, was very discouraged and left. He's not back yet, but come back soon ok!!! It's been half a year. Don't run from God anymore!!

27th is the day where i'm getting 24 points for my DIPS. Because it's the first year after i got my driving license. Hmmm..nothing worthy to mention as of now, since i don't get to drive much.

July 2006
In this month, i uprooted myself from Burlington and sticked myself back to Bugis Village, near to be with Boss. He asked me to shift back, so that he can monitor me more closely and that i can really survive with sales. Which, until then, i wasn't confirmed and not doing very well. And because of me, Rebecca has to shift to Burlinton.

And because of the shift, and the need for health, i signed up with California Fitness to go gym and keep fit. And it was the first time i did pedicure, with Jac at this Peninsula Plaza.

Mom had her first 'Folk Dance Night' where the whole family chipped in to help and to ensure that things are in place. Everything turn out well and it was a great time to see us as a family doing thing together (Tml Mom is having her countdown karaoke-cum-folk dance night... cool huh!!)

In this month, the World Cup ended, and Itay won the world cup. Also, Mass Power got news that we have achieved People Developer Certification.

Aaron (u know, he's the nephew of the owner of Mass Power Engineering) left Mass Power for greener pastures. It was really sudden that he left. Now he's gearing up in his current job and is going into another field of work in a month's time.

On the 24th, my laptop crashed!!!! Argh!!!!! Currently, thank God for papa, who went to get it fixed for me.

This month, Alan was promoted to be a Father, with a cute little boy called Jovan.

August 2006
In August, Jobstreet had a stunt which caused an uproar among all the recruitment agencies in Singapore. Almost all the recruitment agencies in Singapore are chionging ads. I remembered the time after gym with Auntie, that we ran back to office at 10pm to post ad, and ended up not doing much, because the server couldn't take that pressure from all the 'attacks' from other agencies.

It was also a very significant month for me, because it was a Mara-bitter season for me. I had come to a cross-road, even before Boss spoke to me, that i know that i can't live my life like this, my career isn't going anywhere and i dunno where i'm going to become. There doesn't seem to be a career path for me. I don't want to earn meagre bucks for my hardwork. The week of FOP didn't make it better. Was pretty grouchy and grumpy throughout that week. And yah, that week i took NPL to go for an interview, which didn't work out...

I confirmed myself to go for the KL missions trip in this month too, and my crashed laptop was resurrected in this month too.

Most significant thing that happened this month, is when i decided to do what i intended to do at work, because of the pay issue, that i wanted to leave the company. But God has done a great work in my life that i experienced tremendous favor from Boss, who didn't take my resignation as immediate. He even asked me to continue on, while i find a job, and that i can take leave whenever i need to go for interview. Beyond that, he gave me solid advise which i didn't expect it.

2nd most significant is the introduction of KRISTO KAI KOSMOS ==> Christ in the Culture. Dr Bernard came with this word strongly and impacted me to the core, that i'm going to be in the marketplace, for the marketplace, to penetrate the marketplace, for Christ.

Not to forget going for missions trip from the 28 August, taking the 'time-insensitive' Airebus. It was a very memorable trip, being my very first missions trip.

September 2006
This month, i turned 26. Right after the day i returned from Missions Trip. And straight after that week, i had 2 job interviews going on for me, though it didn't work out. Also, this is the month where i uprooted myself from Kelvyn's team to Jacelyn's team. (Hmmm.... a year of moving huh) But so far, i think i did quite ok, being more seasoned by now in Mains and yah, slowly looking to learn to do directing (well..... hasn't really got there, but stilll....)... Okok... before i go on, my favorite director is still Tearle!!! Ahahaha..... (only pple from Jacelyn's team will get the joke)

Crappy things that happened in the month: I realize the power of Loreal Double Extension Mascara.... and Hady Mirza being crowned the Singapore Idol (i don't really catch this year, not really interested too)

Boss really helped me a lot. He saw my passion in Training, and asked me to do training in this month, which i did my best. And think it was good. Really very bless!!

October 2006
October has been a real hazy month, seeing that there was one day where the PSI shot to 150 at the unhealthy level. I saw myself to be inhaling smoke the whole day long.... Think the doctors are quite happy to have more customers.... Also, to assist viewers with hearing issues, the News5 has got DSK-esq words to help us all to understand the news better. Kudos!!!

This is the month where i found myself being offered a position with Earth9.... where thanks to Auntie and Tony, who were my references. I joined the e9 family on the 19th. And i did have mixed feelings when i left, because...

Loneng (Ronan - Boss' god-son), Justin and Josephine also left within the same month. Justin left a day before i did.

I did company training on a Monday (my 2nd last day at Mass Power) and Boss said that my first one was a better one. The next day, i handed over my orders to Jay and Abel, and was blessed with a very nice view of CBD by Boss.

From there, i started my new career, new work life with e9, under the leadership of my current Managing Director.

This is the month where as a church, we sacrificed to build God a great house, in our 2nd Arise and Build. It was an emotional time, and a time of no-guarantee, but we are trusting God to provide us with this land in the marketplace, that is to come.

November 2006
In this month, i had a sense of achievement at work, because, i managed to help e9 to source successfully for a Snr Web Designer, temp telemarketer, as well as to close loop on leave forms for the year. Really thankful. Also, been really quite stress-out over Malaysia issues, which has been resolve 85%... until the account is open, i can't really have achieved it totally.

It was a month of challenges in the financial sense, but thank God for being timely!!

December 2006
In this month, MY office shift was a great success!! And currently we are in the midst of preparing for the shift in Singapore, which is more challenging and more stressful. Exciting times are ahead.

Being Christmas, our Church (With candlelight service) hit the highest record attendance at 45,000 ++, which is the highest in the southeast-Asia region in a single church. Praise the Lord!!!

And yes, at this current moment, i'm currently down to my last few dollars, but i am trusting God for more provision. I'm going to end the year praising God, and knowing that my breakthrough in 2007 is coming. It's going to the best year yet!!!

Ok....... that's all for my flashback. Going to start to set new goals for 2007. Are u going to set goals? :)
