Reading recommendation

Yes, As u can see from my tag, i'll be doing up a special on my 3-years of blogging. Yes, i want to do that. However, time and tide seriously awaits no man! Been wanting to blog about it, and wanted to start planning and stuff like that. However, seems that issues are piling up, and everyone's on a high....

Being high meaning being super busy lah. That's how we describe team members to be very very busy. Yes, so i'm on a HIGH now. Hmmmm.... ok, been high since last week. Thus my thought to do a 3rd Anniversary special.

I already have in mind what i want to write. I think there will be lotsa links here and there. Life and death that's been on my blog, happiness and sadness, my career decisions, my thoughts, desires....

Anyway, today's entry was supposed to be yesterday's. Wanted to introduce a book that i've read recently.

HOW TO DO A GREAT JOB AND GO HOME ON TIME

Wha!! Reading the title itself, you will say 'YES'. Don't be so kan chiong. Let me introduce the book.

Reference to the book:

O'Connell. F (2005),How to do a great job and go home on time, Prentice Hall.

This book is in a handy B5 size, with a sky blue background, with the title in white and yellow. This good is a very comfy read, i mean, simply just flipping through the book, the way that the wordings are there, it's very eye-friendly.

I've finished the book in 6 days. Because their chapters are broken down into digestible chapters on teaching us how to (hehe) go home on time. But what i want to share is the last bit of the book where the few points are really quite essential in the work that all of us are doing. It does not limit to which industry we are in.

Essentially, this book teaches similarly to what Time power taught, but in very-easy-to-understand sentences and examples:
  1. Prioritize - what is urgent and what's important, what to do first?
  2. Never give in to unrealistic targets - It's not just about completing the job ok. Yes, there are things that are time-specified, but it's a question if it affects the quality of work
  3. Feeling guilty about leaving office at 6pm? Most ppl have. I do feel paiseh about leave on the dot. We shouldn't, unless u didn't finish what you should have finished
  4. Know what steals your time - what kind of interuptions, how do u eliminate disturbance (Ok, not very recommended imo)

So if u want to get a read of the book, go to National Library. It is available near to the Biggest library building, which is opposite Bugis.

There's a gold house in every book! Enjoy!

Next Entry

I can't promise if it's the 3rd anniversary special, but i hope so. Maybe there are other interesting things to blog about. Besides, i need time to plan out what should go into the entry. :)
