Today, i was feeling really down, esp with the realization that i'm getting old! Yah... So sadz. Anyway, i was really in a holiday mood, and wished that i don't go for tuition. Been saying for 2 entries that i want to go COMEX!!! And because of tuition i can't la. But, today, i decided to 'pong-teng' tuition and headed for COMEX!!
It was really very crowded, as like all other IT Fairs and whatever fairs that can occur at large spaces. And it's so suffocating!! But people were leaving SUNTEC feeling satisfied and happy, because they had what they wanted to buy.
For me, my main purpose is to see laptops. And i ended up at Suntec Convention Level 4. And listed below are my 4 options. They are not in order of preferance, but one of it i will definitely buy on Sunday (crossing fingers hard.... been procrastinating since...)
Acer

Man! The 2nd one entices me much, because of the free MS Office. Usually when u buy from various IT retailers, who throws in the software, right? But anyway, that's one option. One drawback is that, my current laptop is an Acer too.
My rating: ++++
Toshiba
There's only 1 that i'm looking, which is within my budget

Wha.... very enticing. But then, do i really need MS Office 2007, and the Vista Business Edition? Love the Free upgrades and the Brand. I think for that amount, it's such a steal
My rating: ++++
Lenovo
It's been quite a recommended brand so...
Lenovo Y400@$1,599
No specs at the moment, but sales are so good that it's out of stock. Btw, it comes with free.. a lot of things, including the MS Office too.
Lenovo Y410@$1,599
- Intel Centrino Duo Processor Technology
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
- 120 GB SATA HDD (5400 rpm)
- Dual layer multiburner Drive
- Intel Graphics Medial Accelerator x3100
- 5 cell Li-ion battery
- 14.1" Widescreen WXGA with Vibrantview
- 1 year regional carry-in warranty
- Free upgrade to 3-year regional carry-in warranty
This seems to be quite a good brand to carry. Price though is slightly steep, but i do have a soft spot for it, since i considered it over Dell for 2 posts. But then, i don't really need a DVD Burner leh, it will take up redundant weight
My rating: ++++
Packard Bell
This is one brand that's a bit HP... U know, Hewlette and Packard... relatively new and unknown
Easynote BU45-051@$1,398
- Mobile Intel Core Dua T2350@1.85 GHz
- 533 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache
- 120 GB SATA
- 3 years standard warranty
- 4 in 1 card reader
- Ethernet LAN
- WiFi Golan 802.11 a/b/g
- Bluetooth
- Integrated Webcam
- Biometric finger print
- Windows Vista Premium
Easynote BU45-012@$1,598
Except for the Mobile Intel Core 2 Duo T5200@1.6 Ghz, and at 100 GB SATA, all other specs are the same, which explains the $200 more. Oh, These 2 models are 12.1" and is weighted at 1.7kg.
I'm quite inclined to buy this model because of the warranty, and the weight and size of the laptop, besides it having Bluetooth and even webcam. But one drawback is the unknown credibility of this brand itself. Spoke to a colleague, who said that it's not good, but didn't justify it. =
My rating: ++++
Come to think of it, i didn't regret squeezing and getting knocked by the 'people mountain people sea', because i get to see what i wanted, and a chance to stop procrastinating on my laptop thingy. Yes, the internet thing, we will also settle it!!!
Please comment and let me know what u think... which is a best laptop? And hope that if u are like me, looking for a laptop, you can look at the prices and have some ideas like what the prices are like. Generally, prices at IT fairs are really fantastic!
To breakthrough with procrastinating with my new lappy and broadband!
