Quit smoking, get fresh air

I dunno if you have encountered this before: walking along the street, be it near to the lobby of your office, or outside the coffee shop that you visit, noticing that there's a trend where there's more women who are smoking alongside their male counterparts.

I think it can be due to the fact that, women

1. Wants to be on par with their male counter parts, who believes that there is equality among the sexes.


2. Wants to look cool, collect and pre.. beautifool? (ok that was when i was a young gal, under the influence of shows with beautiful women smokes)


3. Are living stressful lives dealing with jerks of all sorts, and the challenges of life and need a get-away from it all (i've heard this reason toooo many times)

this looks like a woman who was just jilted, feeling pissed, frustrated...

When i was young and out with my grandma (who brought me up), whenever we pass by a woman with a burning cigarette between 2 of her fingers, and happens to be dressing very provocatively, she will tell me in hokkien

"Hui ah, next time dont' smoke ah, very bad woman smokes"

Of course in my 4-5 year-old mind, how do i know if a woman is bad? I mean, as a young kid, i sing song, greet unknown 'aunties' and sing on road trips. HOW DO I KNOW?

Oh.. women who smoke are bad people??

Of course, that's not true la. Though a woman who smokes generally does not portray a very good image, however, i need to justify that i do have friends, male and female who are smokers and they are very very nice people.

Initially when i first knew that they were smokers, i indicated that i'm not very comfortable with them smoking, cigarette smoke and all that. I'm not going to preach about what goes into a cigarette and the 1st and 2nd hand smoke bla bla bla. I think, people who read my blog will know that i don't like to repeat myself too much. You will have these knowledge through primary school liao.

I try to avoid them when they smoke, because i don't want to get lung-cancer because of them, and besides, I HATE THAT SMELL!! URGH

Though over the years, i've grown accustomed to them smoking, and walk along side to talk to them, and yet still minding the smell... but trying hard not to show it.

It's like.. u want to laugh but just hold it (will kena internal injuries one *translate in chinese to understand the full meaning)

LoL, I guess i already kena quite a bit of internal injuries. Haha

There's been a lot of ways in which smokers are discouraged from smoking, such as this controversial ad, which caused an outroar when it first came up, scaring the kids, making a point, but the effectiveness is still unknown.

Not to mentioned the gross looking intestines and the blood clotted brain on cigarette boxes, which STILL didn't deter smokers from quitting.
