Last Monday, during one of the office Prayer meetings, was talking to my PD and AD who were talking about this website called Facebook, which is a social networking website.
Seriously, i had ever heard about this website, since i'm more of a Friendster user. I mean, i've used Friendster since 2004, and that was the biggest time during that time.
When you get to know people, you will ask: "Are you on Friendster?"
Or when u are logged into Friendster, there are annonymous people who wants to add you, and you have the liberaty as towhether if u feel like it to add them.
I've received messages from people who wants to be friends, but aggressive since they leave their contact numbers!!! Wha lau. These ppl are really daring. But i've never responded to such. Oh and they also progressed to having 'shout-outs' on their profile, they can change their background picture, add music, add Videos and many other functions, oh, such as a friendster blog that people can access from the profile site.
Earth9 being in the online business, we need to take much notice of such interesting websites. When PD and AD were talking about it, i was kinda sheepish to say that i've never heard of this FaceBook thing, but i'm a Friendster user.
But they were talking about how much this Facebook is worth and how big companies are interested to buy it out (it's a LOT of money ok, in billions, USD). But what amazes me is the person behind it.
The person behind this is Mark Elliot Zuckerberg . He was a college student at Harvard, who created FaceBook in 2004. Of course, as like the trend of big computer tycoons, he eventually dropped out of college and is now the CEO of FaceBook. He even have a building.
Whau Biang, he's only like 23!!!
Anyway, it's amazing huh? Just realized the trend of this CEOs dropping out of college and having successful IT business. E.g Bill Gates-aka-William Henry Gates III (Microsoft), Michael Dell and a few more. Mark Zuckerberg is an addition. All of them went to college, but didn't have a university degree.
I better get back into the flow of what i want to say...
After that, i decided to check out this FaceBook.
I hasn't looked back since.
Its interfaces are so friendly and easy to use. Mostly importantly, it's so interactive, like things u can put into your profile such as the Vampire/Zombie/Werewolf , the Entourage, Garden, Room, IQ test, Funny tests etc etc etc.
Man! I couldn't help myself loggin on to FaceBook every single day, and adding new friends and new applications to my profile. And mostly interestingly, even my MD also on FaceBook! Whoa!
Looking at it, i don't think any of the directors are on Friendster. It seems that FaceBook is a much more sophisticated networking site that even 'adult' Adults uses, not to mention its interactive-ness. Friendster is so... Kiddy as i look at it.
So.... Friendster is so yesterday.... FaceBook is NOW.
Are you on FaceBook yet? Click here to sign up for a new account, and start finding back old chums. =)
