Just recently... about 2 saturdays ago, my family engaged a domestic helper to help take care of our little princess Louvelle, who's making her appearance in a few weeks. =)
Anyway, instructions were that the domestic helper,is to mainly care for our Princess Louvelle, and help with basic domestic chores. So she came 2 saturdays before, just as i was getting ready for church.
So i saw this lady, who's in her early thirties, small build, seemingly hardworking.
SIL and mummy brought her out to buy the necessities.
"Your new sleeping partner, yeah?" SIL suaned me.
"Haha... right" i replied.
Anyway, the domestic helper, who i shall call S, was quite helpful. But being not familiar with this sudden 'intruder', i was definitely on my guard, and have my reservations. So i wasn't exactly wanting to interact much with her. Esp since my limited (make it very limited) vocabulary of her language, will make us 鸡同鸭讲.

While nursing my runny nose (AND I MUST REPEAT FOR THE UPTEENTH TIME: I DON'T HAVE H1N1!!!!) and working at my desk at office, mum suddenly called me.
Mum: Your SIL just sent S back to the agent.
Me: Oh? (so apparently i'm not exactly shocked)
Anyway, S, is actually a 千金小姐 back in her own country. She even told my ma that she lived in a big house, drives a BMW (it's not my BMW which mine means Bus, Mrt, Walk), go for facials, pedicures and manicures.... the works that the rich tai-tais does. And it seemed that she brought over credit cards when she came here to work..... Wha lau..
Mainly her work here to take care of our little princess, and since she has 2 children, it shouldn't be a problem. Or so, we thought.
Now, that's where the agent is negligent. My mum realized that after a conversation with S, that she doesn't even need to lift a hand to do housework back home, cos she has maids at home, and her children were taken care by babysitters!
OMGosh! Then how does she know how to take care of our Princess????
Anyway, my ma related this comment made by my SIL to the agent:
My maid drives a BMW, I only drive a Toyota, How can i afford to hire her???
Wha seh! Talk about having an atas maid... Seriously! How to afford? And until now, we are also wondering why she need to come SG to work as a maid, if she's so rich??
But this also brings me to this conclusion: It's never easy to find the most ideal maid. Sometimes, situations like this happens lah. I've read many many of such stories where the domestic help just 'lost her marbles' and start doing weird things. Or that the skillset are discounted when the they turn up for work. So apparently, this one falls under the 2nd category, with a really weird twist.
It comes with hard work, stringent responsibility of the agent, and probably, a bit of luck (though i'll call it grace of God) for one to get a good maid at first try.
