Job Hunting update – 21st Oct 2009 (a 啰里啰唆 entry)

Up till now, it’s been 10 days with the launch of my new resume. And i must say, that things are looking upwards:

a) Job interview at F&B company, which i thank God for, but was sorely disappointed at how disorganized, and how there’s no HR systems in place at all.

b) Job Interview at a Bank near to Sentosa, which was rather disappointing, as they are not interested to hire for a perm position, and only wanted me in as a temp. And if u are reading this, whoever u are, thanks for the opportunity, but sorry, i’m looking for the long haul, not some temporal place.

c) Interview with a nice ‘aunty’ at a relatively small agency, which happened that i’ve also applied to that position. Though it didn’t bring in any response so far, i guess it’s been a good time just sharing about what my career aspirations are. Anyway, the research institute doesn’t seem keen on me, since i’ve written to them like a million years ago?

d) Phone interview today with a Science Research company (SRC). Amazingly, this agent found me on Monster.com and sent my resume over, and this phone interview happened today. Though I am really keen on this position, and there was even a timing arranged for tml for interview with the HRM, but an hour down the road, i got a called that bode badly: Delay till further notice…. Just when i’m getting more keen and my interest in this role grew with talking to the HRM, this has to happen! =(

!#$%^&*()!#$%^&*()

Even though i tell those whom i’ve told to, that i’m not disappointed,

S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y!!

I definitely am! Sigh.

I’m seeing myself slowly getting more disillusioned with recruitment agencies. Though i know between a client and agency, there will be some loose ends that are not tied (since i’ve been on both sides before), and some things are just not meant to be.

But i can’t just help, but to realize that some agencies are just the untouchables. NEVER go with the big one with the bright yellow squarish logo. I had so many bad experiences with them before, and this time,

I REALLY LEARN MY LESSON!!

Anyway, oops, i did it again, that is, revamped my resume.

If you are still, like me, looking for a job, get someone a few people to vett your resume. Listen to what they have to say, and improve your resume from there.

Interested to know what was my analysis of the resume that was used from 10 days ago? And, yes, i keep a record of every job i’ve applied for.

Welcome to C-ness magnification!

Someone might ask me, how would this determine if my resume revamp has been effective? We will need to do a fair comparison in 10 days time. With my re-revamped resume launched out 2 hours ago, on 31st October, i will do another chart on my applications (hopefully by then, i would have got an offer???)

And i was really surprised at the percentage of applications on various portals. To disclaim, this data is based on my own job applications listing, and does not represent the same for other jobs.

Interestingly, i applied more jobs at JobsDb as compared to JobStreet. I’m surprised!

Whatever it is, I shall just do my best, to find my career!

Keep on Keeping on!!!
