As someone who’s exercising and trying very hard to watch my diet, it’s not very advisable to snack and eat tidbits and whatever nonsense that we are not supposed to eat.
Technically speaking, in order to work our bodies towards losing weight, the formula should be that the output is > the input.
I’ve been trying really hard to resist the temptations of snacking. I think the last time i snacked was… hmmm CNY? Can’t resisted the koropok at my grandma’s house. Subsequently i repented with eating 陈皮梅.
But then, i don’t have a lot of time to think of what to eat, especially after work and rushing for tuition. So i usually grab a quick meal at JP2’s feast and then off i go. And it’s one time this week that kiddo requested to start tuition later. And hence i have a bit more time to eat. And that’s the trouble.
“I have room for dessert”
Darn, it flashed across my mind as i tucked into my dinner.
I ate this.
Ok. This doesn’t look very obvious.
This is 粉圆, not 汤圆
This particular dessert is called Iced HoneyDew 粉圆.
粉圆 is something similar to 汤圆, which is made of rice flour, but with different ingredients such as Yam (The one inside the spoon), Sweet Potato (Orange in color), and red bean (there’s one right below the strawberry). The texture is something similar to the sago that is found in bubble tea, which explains the shiny-ness.
Seriously, this is the first time i ate 粉圆 in cold. I liked better those that are warm and comes with either ginger/peanut/almond soup. The iced ones doesn’t really seem to match well, just like 汤圆 will always and only be pared with warm sweet soup.
Initial taste is really quite impressive, cos there’s honeydew and strawberry and sago, 2 rather out-of-place kidney beans and all the 粉圆. But after all these wonderful food has travelled to my stomach, what was leftover was not good.
Honeydew Puree not! It seems to be flavour and sugar and all things sweet.
No doubt, it’s a good try. I like how it was presented.
Looks really yummilicious.
粉圆 desserts can be found at Feast at JP2, and Kopitiam Foodcourts.
My rating: 3 out of 5.
