A heart that forgives readily...

I want to dedicate today's post, to a very brave and big-hearted boy: *drum rolls*

NIGEL ANG!!!!

If u know my style of writing, usually when i talk about my students, i'll actually asterix their spellings.. But i think for Nigel, i shall be open about it.

As u have read from my previous post, he actually injured himself. The magnitude of the injury is really beyond what i can comprehend and what even he could not comprehend.

Anyway, i visited Nigel at the Children's Ward at NUH... Hmmm it was my first time at a Children's Ward.. and to my surprise, whoa, it's exactly like what we will see in medical dramas esp those to do with the NKF Kid's fund. Yeah.. the in house doctors are really dressed in hmmm should i say cutsey attire top and blue pants... And yeah.. there's exceptionally too many trainee doctors and nurses around....

When i reached the place, Nigel was asleep... looking rather drowsy.. When i talked to him, he's like blur blur one... And he was drifting in and out of sleep... He's tired lah... because he had the operation last night from 9plus till 2plus in the morning. And C***s, his mother was there, and since the accident happened, she hasn't set foot back into her own house.... He was also having a slight temperature, which is a side-effect of the operation he underwent.

It was at the ward that i was conversing with C***s, then i knew what exactly happened.....

Nigel was playing at that location [Btw C***s lives there and she also dun understand why the blocks are so far away!!] with his friends... they were playing 'flying fox' which is the miniature version of it.. then while it was his turn to play, his fren, [ok let's call him ZH]... he pushed Nigel just when he was on it... so Nigel panicked and let go.. and was hanging in mid air....

Question: What is ur 1st instinct when u are falling?
Answer: Break my fall... with anything!!

And that's what he did....He used his right arm to break his fall..... which is by far a mistake....

******

The real reason why i wanna dedicate this post to him is because of his readiness to forgive and forget. C***s has never... NEVER blame ZH for it... It's an accident, that no one anticipated. Even Nigel... he was wincing in pain, but the first thing is that he's worried about ZH.. whether he will be punished by his parents or not... He cared more for his fren's well-being beyond his pain..

ZH came to visit Nigel while i happened to be still around... It was a moment of truth.... Facing the music bravely... The friendship is still strong. And i believe that it will go on and on....

Nigel is such a brave boy... He never shed a tear throughout the incident, even though it has brought excruciating pain to him.... There is no time for him to adapt to the fact that
1) He fractured 2 bones
2) He fractured his right arm ---> it's more-or-less impossible for him to sit for his SA2 next week
3) He needed to go for an operation to insert wires to aid recovery for his bones
4) He experience excruciating pain just moving his last 3 fingers, not to mention lifting his arm
5) He was playing happily with his friends, and the next moment everything change drastically, in a span of 8 hours...

******

This is not a story. It's a real life event that has happened in less than 48 hours ago.... So many things to adapt to.. and yet so little time.. It's hard for an adult to accept that, let alone an 11-year old boy.

Nigel, i dunno whether if u will get to read this- ever! But what i want u to know is that i'm really very proud of u..... for putting others' well-being before yourself ... Don't worry, your arm will work well in quick time! Just concentrate on getting well now.

Have a speedy recovery.....
