Number 1 Jurong West Street 91

I have briefly mentioned it in my previous blog entry that some 1,000 members are shifting back to Jurong West Street 91. I guess, from the time that we have shifted from Jurong West to Expo, our church has experience exponential growth. And i guess many of you who have joined CHC from 2005 onwards, have never even seen the building before.

Here it is.

This building took CHC about 8 years of building fund, raising $48 million dollars to build. Though it may seem small, but, beyond this 5 story building, there's actually another 4 storeys below ground level, where the main auditorium is situated.

Not to mention the Titanium that was clad around the building. And the Riveria, and the baptism pool and baby pool located at the roof garden. (that's super memorable, i was among those that was water baptised in that pool, which was used the very first time)

I remembered that when we shifted into the building, we are about 1 building fund season away from paying off this building. And just as we have shifted and got comfortable with this building, we have outgrown the building.

In 2004, Pst announced that as the church is really growing, this limited space does not have enough space to contain our continuous growth, and the decision for us to travel from Wild Wild West to Singapore Expo.

That's the Wild wild west to East! But still as we shift, sacrifices of sleep were made weekly, with our hearts burning for the passion of the Lord. We are still growing, even today! We are at an average of 23,000 members now.

As the weeks went by, we had to put lotsa extra chairs for the both services, and the decision to open an extra service, back at Jurong West.

My CG is one of those that are going back. I'm really excited, because i know that it's going to be an exciting change. We are going to anchor Jurong West, meeting the needs of the Westerners again. Though yeah, it's not easy to say good bye to Expo, but we are after all, members of CHC and the family of God.

...By this shall all men, know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

From 2nd December onwards, i'll start missing waking up at 7.3oam to travel to church for the 10am service. Instead, i'll be travelling westwards towards Jurong West, taking bus 242 or 179, to our miracle church building.

Actually, i won't really miss Expo yet, at least for now.

Anyway, if you are forgetting, u can travel to church by the various methods.

1) Bus

If you are travelling from Clementi, you can take bus 99. Take all the way until you see the Community Centre at Jurong West, alight at the bus stop after it turns left. You can see the church building on the right side.

I have to warn you first, waiting for the bus really takes forever (jiu jiu *in chinese). Travelling time from Clementi Interchange to destination is estimated to be 45 mins.

2) Mrt

You will need to stop at Boon Lay Mrt (terminal), and proceed to the Interchange. You can take 2 buses, either 242 (you will stop at the same stop as bus 99, est 8-9 stops), or 179 (5th bus-stop, you will get down at the stop where it is a short stretch after the back door of the church)

3) Taxi

Just tell the taxi uncle/auntie:

"Uncle/Auntie, i want to go to No 1 Jurong West Street 91"

And the driver will reply..

"It's the church right?"

And you can say

"Yah" *hehehehe...

So hope this information is helpful for you to find your way to our Miracle Building. God Bless!
