KL TRIP - Day 1, 14th Nov 2007

Today is my first night here staying in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As said in my previous entry, i’m on a work trip with my Boss. The mode of transport to KL is usually by 2 ways: Coach (Transtar or Aeroline) or by plane (waiting for AirAsia to open up to KL travel next year). This time round, and my first time work trip up to KL, is a new option. We went up by car, driven by Boss.

It was confirmed about 2 weeks back that he wanted to drive up to KL, bringing some of the stuff that we want to bring to the KL office. Items include 2 Beehive Japanese-esp screens, Dustbins x 4, 2 packs of earth9 black pens, one whiteboard. And they are not light stuff, i have to say. The screens though thin but heavy, took a lot of space. And it nearly sticked out of Boss’ car boot, because it’s so long.

Amazingly, Boss drove his Audi from his house with all the stuff, and picked me up and we drove all the way through the 2nd link and all the way. Let’s see...

He started around 10am from his house, drove to my house, picked me up at around 10.30am and thus began the 4 plus hours journey from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

What Boss did, besides driving:
He was already in the mood for Christmas, and as with his likes, he played the songs on his car audio, which held 5 CDs, songs are of similar genre. He sang along to quite a lot of songs, and suddenly talked to me about office and stuff, then kept on singing throughout the journey, occasionally scolding car-drivers that pissed him when they anyhow park and /or are unsure of the direction the road is.

What i did, during the journey:
Chatted with Boss for a while, and when there’s silence, i took out my 8 days to read (er, i hasn’t missed Singapore, yet), and then listening to him sing (which he vehemently apologized :P ) and then decided that i should play with my PSP.

Amazingly, we reached KL city around 2pm, but there’s jam here and there, but considering the distance that normal coaches take to reach KL is like 5 hours, we did it in around 3.5 hours. And yes, speeding on the road at 110 km/h. Legally. The road sign says at max 110 km/h. U can’t get this experience on a coach.

I arrived at
Hotel Capitol a while later. In my concept, Capitol is a very classy hotel, with its name. U know, Capitol. Sounds very kick-arse. In actual fact, it’s a 19th storey building where it’s paint on the building looked a bit old. Boss said that it’s 3-star.

But the hotel room is really cosy. In fact, i’m sitting at the table, next to the window, blogging it in Word format (i don’t have internet connection. I won’t pay RM 25 to relieve my addiction to internet) before what u see in my entry. The view is so-so. I will load the pictures once i’m back, or when i’ve figured out how to use the 5-in-1 card reader. Okok... i'll get a Bluetooth adaptor. Can't wait to share my pictures.

The walk from the hotel to office, is but a ‘hill’s’ distance. After work ended, i proceeded to find my way from Raja Chulan back to Capitol. Relying on my memory, i walked and walked and walked, and didn’t see what i should see. *shrugs*

So by sheer identification of buildings, i’ve realized i’ve walked a big round back to office. I’ve left Office at 6.45pm. I’ve reached hotel at 7.15pm. What turned to be a 10min walk turned out to be a 30 min exploration walk, lol.

Had dinner at Sushi King, which is next to the hotel. Well, spent RM 22 on a Saba hotplate meal, consisting of Saba Fish with veg, Chawanmushi, Miso Soup and Yakault. Eh, nearly thought this one is a kiddy set meal. Oh, their Ocha (hot or cold) is on the house with free refills. Man!!! Singapore Japanese restaurants should do this too.....

Hello Sakae, do u read me?? Hellllllooooo?????

I’ve wondered on my own at Sungei Wang, which is conveniently next to the Hotel, and i had a whale of a time looking around at things, and (finally) found my coin pouch. And it’s soooooo.... worth it. RM 10 for 3, and designs are of the LV monograms. And, haiz, i bought 2 shirts from Baleno. As if it’s not found in Singapore. I must be mad.

Oh, i’ve tried to remember which exit i came from, and that place has soo many exits, by the time i found it, it’s already locked, since it’s around 9pm, around closing time. Oh, i took 20 mins to find the correct exit. Wha piang! And i eventually decided to get out and find my bearings, and ended up with a 10 min roundabout Sungei Wang and this BB Plaza before i found familiar ground and back to hotel.

Urgh! Okok, i’m a street-idiot. Give me a detailed road map anyday and i’ll find my way faster than you can say “I’m lost”.

Ok, that makes Day 1 of my adventures. 2 more nights to go and back on Saturday.

Ps: Weiying, such a pity u not coming to KL. Sungei Wang’s driving me nuts with all the things to buy, and i hasn’t even touched Lot 10 and KLCC. Pictures asap. I’ll buy a Bluetooth adaptor. Can’t wait!!! =)
