I’m sitting again by the window, blogging, with Ally singing “One Life, One love” in the background.
Today is the 2nd day that i’m here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on work trip. Thinking about it, it didn’t seem so real that i’m really in KL, seriously. At times, i felt that i’m in a trance and that i often wondered: Am i really not in Singapore?
Yesterday, i got lost – Twice.
Once, on the way back home from office, where i took a super long walk back to the hotel. 3 hours later, i lost my way within 100m from the hotel room, lost in the abyss of the shopping world of Sungei Wang and BB Plaza.
I (eh hem) nearly got lost on the way to work. Well, after getting some prata from an Indian hawker, i made my way to the office. Guiding by what the map drawn and having a revelation of where the KFC is, i made my way to the office. And though the directions are not exactly wrong, they are also not that easy to identify. I made a detour, and decided that i should just follow the path. And i made it. Reached office at 8.50am. Wha!
It’ll be so nice if e9 Singapore is so near to my house, within walking distance.
I woke up at 6.45am, when i asked for morning call at 7.30am. Can’t help it. Dunno if i’m not very familiar with the place where there’s anxiety, or that the sun shines much earlier in Malaysia. When i opened my eyes to the surrounding, it felt like 8am. Checked my phone. Oh. It’s.Only.7am.
I guess it has to do with the distance lah. Probably it’s the norm. I dunno. Like when i was in Aussie, what looked like 8am to me is in actual fact 5am.
Boss took the team out to lunch today at Menara Weld. This building is familiar to me only for the name. But it’s a totally different concept. I’ve always thought that Weld is a purely office tower. I was wrong. It’s office cum shopping area. And the place felt like our Paragon.
We went to this Thai Restaurant called Bangkok Express, which is something like our Thai Express (U’know, Bangkok and Thailand... the link?). We sat down and chatted around waiting for food. Usually Thai food found themselves on our table such as Phat Thai. There’s pineapple rice, which was not served in a pineapple bowl but in a white porcelain plate (felt a bit short-changed) and a few more. I ordered Crabmeat fried rice, which was the 2nd last item that came. This gave rise to a team joke.
After work, Ivy volunteered to bring me to KLCC for a walk. And i got a chance to ride the Monorail. Wow!! It’s something like our CCK LRT, except that the cabins are painted brightly. Seats in the train are also quite different. We rode from this stop that’s outside Sungei Wang to the next stop which is Raja Chulan, and we walked through a short cut to KLCC.
KLCC is... HUGE.
It’s very majestic to view the place from outside, but after visiting the inside, i have to conclude that it’s really big, really comparable to VIVOCITY. I think i’ll enjoy the shopping centres outside my hotel door as compared. But there are things that i really like about KLCC. The scenary (yes, i’m at it again..... my postcard collections J ) is really beautiful. Took pictures of the non-musical fountain with water splashing.
Ivy, i dunno if u read my blog a lot, but really thanks for accompanying me. Thanks for the treat at the Penang Kafe. The food’s real good. It’s great to have friends in unfamiliar ground. Cheers!
It’s a good experience to be working in KL, but being in an unknown place – alone, it can really get quite some time getting used to. But it’s overall a good experience. Though i need to lug my laptop with me, to and fro office, but it’s ok. =)
I need my laptop to be with me, so that i have the place to pen my thoughts.
Ok, my photo-blog will probably be out end of the week, on Saturday or Sunday. I’ve got myself a Bluetooth adaptor from a neighbouring building, Low Yat Plaza, but the silly thing is it doesn’t read the CD that comes with it. So siao right? Though RM29 is around SGD 12-14 bucks, but i still expect that it should connect, which the device can. But my phone can’t send to it. Silly! So so so silly!
Haiz. Guess the photoblog will have to come after the whole trip is over. I will get my Bluetooth devise up soon. I can’t wait to post pictures!!!
