How to look for a job…

Seeing that i hasn’t found a job yet after close to 2 months of slacking, i decided to come up with a few ways that people (who , like me are finding jobs and slacking at the same time) can find their jobs. Though i may not be the most qualified person to do that… *wiggle eyebrows.

If you are a fresh graduate and/or probably short of money while on the look-out for jobs. This is a time where u will feel kinda frustrated, and wonder if the correct job will come your way. This will be what u need to do:

1) Sign up with various job portals. Recommended are the following
a)
Jobstreet Singapore
b)
JobsDB Singapore
c)
ST 701
d)
Monster Singapore

2) Go to a trusted recruitment agency to deposit your resume. And yes, that means thicken your skin and walk-in to various agencies. There are 4 of the biggest agencies, but of course, it’s good to deposit with some smaller ones, to increase your chance. If there’s short-term temp jobs, it will be good to take it up, esp if you are a fresh graduate - this gains u some experience, and ready for your next career move (not forgetting earning ur own income)

On a side-note: I do have quite a lot of opportunities for ‘short term’ (u don’t call 4 months short term ok), but looking for a career for me at my age is more of a focus for me =)

3) Buy Strait Times newspaper on Saturdays. This is the day where all the companies will make effort to publish their job openings. And 80cents is worth your while to get a good job interview. Read the tips they provide too!!

4) If u are really thick-skinned, maybe u can just write to the company of your choice and see if they wanna give u a job or not =) (i’ve never tried it, but i’ve heard of success stories of such)

One thing’s important though: Do note that recruitment agencies that you go to, they won’t get back to you when necessary. So u need to manage your expectations, and if possible, do it yourself.
