My experience with Influenza B

It was just last week that i’ve encountered Influenza B.

Well, when u hear about this word, INFLUENZA, it will mean the common flu to many. It is indeed flu, but a different kind of flu.

Influenza B is actually a virus. And, i’m not kidding you, Influenza A or commonly known as H1N1 is more common.

It actually started when i felt my throat burning last Tuesday. And i remembered having a really tough time, with Tuition after work and then visiting my doggies. And from there, my fever came….

Wednesday to Thursday: I was on MC. My throat went from sore to infectious. My nose was blocking and running (as always, it always have a life of its own), and my fever on started subsiding near to the end of Thursday. Of course, the doc warned that if the fever comes back on Friday, i’ll have to go back to see him… either it’s the accursed Dengue Fever or H1N1 (See, the doc likes to scare people)

Friday: Rise and shine, and back to work. The giddiness starting whacking me upside-down the whole day. 3/4 of the time, i was goggy and lacked focus at work. To make it worse, it was raining, and i was freezing like crazy. And the fever made a de-tour and hit me hard.

And i went back to the doctor, who asked me to monitor myself and to do a blood test the next day.

The very interesting thing that i did was to be wearing my jacket, and eating my dinner of fishball kuey-teow soup, and the fan off and NOT SWEATING. Very sickening right?

Saturday: Fever subsided. But the thing that was swimming in my mind was to have the truth set me free. If it’s Dengue, so be it. If' it’s H1N1, then may the truth set me free; and i need to move on, whatever it is.

So i went to the clinic…… Doc was surprised to see me, and told me that i don’t have fever liao, so don’t need the Dengue blood test. But he suggested that i do the H1N1 test, which uses the mucus in the nose, and that blardy test cost $35!!!!!

So i waited…… and the verdict is that i tested positive for Influenza B.

And because it is infectious, i have to stay home for the next 4 days. MC for Monday to Tuesday.

Darn! There goes my weekend, which i’ve so much to look forward to, be it FOP, 21st Anniversary (watched both services online), collection of my orders (my coach and beautiful fake eyelashes came in the mail).

Wednesday (Yesterday): Finally back to work. Had all clear to go back to work. But i still need to take my nose and throat meds for now. Up till today, i’m still having some coughs and my nose is still running and blocking.

But well, it’s a far cry from where i was, this time, last week. =)
