Counting down 2 days to Sundown HM 2011

I took this picture of my office calendar which records down important events for me such as the dates due for Payroll, Claims etc…. and also important running events. And u can see i DIY-ed a bit on my calendar to countdown to important dates. And that day is highlighted (literally).

As u can see, i value counting down a lot, and i always countdown to this, to that, to AC, to my runs….. I feel that it gives me the adrenaline counting down to it, and because i value these dates.

As at Blogging time, i am 2 days away, or to be more precise, 44 hours away from the starting line at Changi Aviation Centre. The HM starts at 8pm on Saturday.

I’ve finally bought something to store my power gels. And it’s not exactly a Fuel Belt, though that’s the name of the brand.

I’ve been thinking really hard about whether if i need to (able to) carry 4 bottles of water dangling by my waist as i run. Besides, i got a handheld water bottle as a Christmas gift which i can use while running. And my visit to Running Lab confirmed what i needed to be sure before i swipe my credit card to buy anything.

If i’m not wrong, it’s called an SPI (I dunno what’s the full name for it) belt. It has some sockets that supposed to hold the powergel in the open, and a pouch to hold other stuff (have tested and tried – don’t try putting in ur iphone or BB inside, it’ll just bounce along). And as a Citibank credit card holder, i get 10% off my purchases! =)

I’m 2 days away from my HM, and i guess equipability (see, i invented another word, haha) , i’m quite prepared. As for carbo-loading, i really tried my best, but i seriously cannot eat so much carbs in the morning! I tried eating noodles in the mornings, and i gave up yesterday for a cup of milk and a pack of Sky Flakes, which satisfies me.

Tomorrow will be a more important day. I need to sleep, i need to carbo load, i need to hydro load.

Psychologically, it’s a bit different. In a race, your completion is really determined in your mind – or what u call, MIND OVER BODY. I realised this in my first 10km. So i need to prep my mind to cross the first 10km, then next 11km and to the finishing line before i physically do that.

Though i have a goal on the timing, but, to me, it’s about the ability to complete my first HM.

I feel excited, yet apprehensive. :)
