Packing for the Sundown HM race tomorrow

Maybe it’s because i’m a very C person; i need to be very precise in what i am carrying, be it for a holiday or even for a race, like tomorrow. I usually pack one day before the race day usually, and have a list of must-brings.

And i’m glad to say that i managed to get my SPI belt yesterday (kinda late), and have packed my race bag. It’s quite a handful actually. But i’m not done yet. But this is my must-have tomorrow when i leave my house.

Let’s see what i have here:
1) H-Two-O (Cos i never liked 100-Plus which is sparkling/gasy, whatever u call it)

2) Handheld water bottle – It’s a gift from one of my leaders for last year’s Christmas. Am still contemplating if i should carry it with me during the race. For the good, i can have a drink any time, where it’s convenient when i take the gels. For the bad, i can’t be holding this bottle and running and trying to use my free hand to take the gel and to drink it…. A bit erm…. Busy, hor?!

3) Power Gel – It’s a bit risky actually since i’ve never tasted it. I can only hope i do like the taste. I hope it boosts my run, especially after the 10th km…

4) Ipod Holder – I pray it won’t rain, cos it’s not water proof, cos my ipod is not water proof. Gosh, i wish for an ipod shuffle right now…

5) Power Bar – i will eat one prior to the race to boost my 1st 10km, and devour the other one post-race to replenish energy.

6) Anti-bacterial wipes – it will come in helpful after the run to wash up, and/or in the event the bathing facilities are way too busy and the queue’s too long….

7) SPI Belt – The brand is Fuel Belt, but the pouch is really kinda small, but enough to hold the gels and item #8.

8) Counterpain – the rub for muscle pain, cramp, literally any symptom that may arise during the run (except if u need the loo). I got this at a great deal at $4 at my friendly neighborhood store! It’s way cheaper than ur friendly departmental store that sells it between $6.50 - $8.00.

9) Race Bib – this is the most important thing of the day!!! Without it, i can’t run the race!!

Ok, so i’m ready. But i know that i’ll unpack and pack…. again, hopefully only 1 time, before i really set out. :)

Looking forward to the race tomorrow! Though the cut-off time is 5 hours, i seriously hope to finish the race at somewhere 3h 30mins to 3h 45 mins.

Watch this space for updates, on 29-05-2011. I do believe i will blog, cos my hands aren’t doing the running. =)
