Opportunity cost at a 'loss'

This incident happened today. Though i really tan dio, but i'm real pissed. Reason is because i am STILL Late!!

Anyway, i got into a cab near my house at the 285 bus stop. It was already 8.40am, and the bus is like nowhere near coming to the bus stop. So i decided to take a cab to work. I tell you, i was pretty xintong, but think better lah, because i didn't want to be late for work.

I lifted my hands and a Comfort cab stopped in front of me. He said that going to Middle Road, go by West Coast Highway sure faster, no jam. Since i usually go by AYE-Rochor, and it's quite expensive, and thought that maybe i should just try out this route. I tell u, it's a disaster!!!!

True, the West Coast Highway was really not jamed, but when it was at Keppel heading towards Anson Road, the jam started. It was like 8.50am. And the cab was moving very slowly. I showed a pissed look. The driver said that with such speed, he can reach Marine Parade in 10 mins!!

I was like "HELLO!! I'M GOING TO MIDDLE ROAD, TELL ME ABOUT MARINE PARADE FOR WHAT!!!!!"

Anyway, i showed a real pissed look because at 9am, i was stuck at Robinson Road, yah, just infront of Good Ole GMG. And the distance is like quite some time. And he's driving real slow..... And i got angrier when the time struck 9.15am. I have already fully utilized the 15 mins grace period! And i was really really angry, because the driver was like "Oh, where's IOI....i must turn left is it?!"

Wha lau eh!!!

I gave a real pissed voice and said "The brown one with blue windows!"

And i just told him to stop outside the bus stop at Sunshine Plaza. I seriously had no small change, so i gave him a $50 for my fare of $18. I even asked for the receipt. But he said that he don't have change.... and he said: "Hmmm, it's ok lor. Take it that i give you a lift." Well, though pissed that i'm late, i said thanks and quickly left to run to office.

I mean, i'm really glad that i saved the money, but then, i'm still late!!! Grrllll.... That's the reason why i wanted to take a cab to work today!!!

They will be in sequence of the time taken to reach office....

a) West Coast 285 Bus stop-AYE-Rochor
This is very straight forward. Go up to Clementi Flyover, U-turn into AYE, ECP, Rochor before turning to Middle Road. Time taken is about 15-2o min. Maximum price inclusive of ERP and Peak surcharge: $16++

b) West Coast -Dover-Orchard-Dhoby Ghaut-Prinsep, Middle Road
This is pretty complicated. This route was tested on a Saturday, was on a car ride. Starting from West Coast, Clementi Flyover, turn right to Dover, straight down to Orchard Road, Bypassing Dhoby Ghaut and turning to Middle Road. Time taken: 20 mins Estimated price: at least $18++, but good thing is no ERP gantry along this path, yet.

c) West Coast 285 Bus-stop, Straight to West Coast Highway-Anson Road-Bugis-Middle Road
This is the stupidest route that i have taken, and it's recorded for today's journey. First travel thorugh via Clementi West street 1, turn right to West Coast Highway, straight all the way until after Harbourfront, down to Keppel (traffic jam for at least 5 mins), and jam till Anson Road (another 10 mins burnt), and then down to Bugis and Middle Road. Time taken: 35 mins. Estimated price: Minimum $18 inclusive of $2.50 ERP Gantry charges at Anson Road, and $2 peak surcharge.

I tell u. As a passenger, tell the driver what to do. Don't let them decide where to go. U never know if they 'dunno' which route is the nearest. U are the money-giver. You are the Boss! So decide the route to go.
