Right now is Year 2009, January 1, 0413 hours.
It's been 4 hours since 2008 has just passed us, just like that. No more living in the year of 2008. There's no more 2008.
Time and tide waits for no man. And how true to depict what Time actually is.
I'm already in year 2009, and it's no longer about "I wish i did this", "I wish i've done it this way...." etc etc etc.
I mean, there's no more a need to regret what was and wasn't done. I'm looking forward to 2009. The year where i've lived out my 2008 with this vision that God has given to me - to go to Bible School. And i'm gonna make it happen this year!
Yet, it's a good opportunity to flash back what i've done, and know that in this year, i will learn from the experience. (Goals setting will be in another entry). Let's start!
January 2008
I guess, nothing much happened, except for the hype about Singapore getting a chance to host the Youth Olympic Games. A good start to the year. In this month of the year, Bonus was declared, and yea, bonus was fantastic. But my health went on a downslope
February 2008
In Feb, i guess i wasn't really blogging much, except for the fact that we are one of the 2 contenders to host the YOG, and eventually getting it by winning over Moscow. It was a sweeeeet victory. And, the resident star of the Zoo, Ah Meng, was laid to rest. And how i pondered on how much increment to ask.
March 2008
This is one month where i literally have writing diarrhea. I wrote about many things close to me. Esp about God giving me a vision to go to SOT, my now-known weakness for Body Shop and likes for cheap sales. Beyond that, this is really a happening month: JI Fugitive is on the run (and still running even as i'm writing here), lotsa elections hype in Asia and America. And the not so good thing, such as the visitation of the bloody stool (eeeewwwww), and my ranting about not able to drive (right now, i'm not bother if i get to drive, because my vision has kept me sane from then). That month, i applied for my CapitaCard and got it, and thus began to keep to shopping for big stuff at CapitaLand malls. Ha!
April 2008
Early in the month, i suddenly felt quite sian about my job, and thus my new term of Syantology came by. Watched the worst show (that i thought). Streetdirectory.com, my favorite site to check on places was down for the looongest time and even as it's back now, the former glory is lost. Finished my Building Fund, and got a blessing of $50 CapitaLand vouchers! (Woo!!). I started on my defence for cab drivers, where i 'interviewed' them and then posted my findings. They work really hard for their monies, ok!
In this month, my mum was found to have nodules and was hospitalized for surgery. She ended up with not able to speak for about 1 week plus, and having people who stared at her when she's out with me. I'm never ashamed of my mother at all, but i understood how the deaf and mute felt. And i'm really glad that my mom only lost her voice for a temporal time.
Earth9's 10th Anniversary dinner, with loads of pictures and food (But from them i didn't go back to Dempsey Road - like without a car, how to go in leh?)
May 2008
Watched the most favorited movie of 2008: Iron Man. Watched a most loveable and inspiring clip from Danny. Had an angry post, and removed it eventually when peace came back into my heart. Explored doing a collage without the use of Picasa, and eventually i started on doing my own blog banner.
I watched the "Made of Honor" movie this month too. Sichuan Earthquake happened in this month, and we see warmth being spread everywhere by retailers who tried to help in one way or another. A new milestone for me to have another avenue to earn monies by joining Advertlets (and i hasn't earned a single cent yet, sadly). And my craze about Body Shop continued.
June 2008
Watched the much-hyped movie SATC. I hit my 500th entry on my humble blog. And much about my adventures in Bangkok (all the cheap shopping and eating and massaging). And my new Samsung F-700, which is not a common phone, even until today.
July 2008
This month has all the passengers who take cab to reconsider this option by having a 30 cent surcharge on disel tax. And my va-va-vroom mouse in my office. Yummy cold rock ice-cream is a recommendation that i don't wanna anyone to miss!
August 2008
Watched "Money No Enough 2". Beijing Olympics started, and had people talking about having the young singer who was lip-synching. Having a silver medal finally for the nation after a 48 year old medal drought.
Not so fantastic things include: bloody stool came for a chat. (Grrrrllll), and a not so fantastic reaction to me wanting to go SOT.
September 2008
Google Chrome was launched and set to conquer the web browser pie. Sam left SG to study in Stockholm in Sweden for his PhD.
Though i turned 28, but i fell blardy sick.... Had a 4 days MC. Hmmm... health went downhill, and barely recovered in time for my 2nd Bangkok trip.
Melamine was the bad bad bad word for this season, as many babies are inflicted with kidney stones due to it added to milk powder to give more 'protein'.... the country's product you wished the least to have around you is China.
October 2008
Anther bout of sickness, and also another 3.5 days of being out of action. Never knew what stomach flu is, and never knew i could suffer this much. Printed and filled in my form to submit to SOT.
After the stomach flu, i kena a pig-trotters episode. Ahhhh.... Glad that everything became back to normal after that.
November 2008
Asia Conference was a great big blast! Learning to use the MAC was the greatest technical breakthrough (initially hating it to the core, and now wishing i have a mac) that i had.
Building Fund came up, and i gave the biggest amount ever! Leading to that was the morning prayer meetings, which i love, and can't wait to have it again, though my beauty sleep is compromised (ahhh the eye bags, and the morning bloatedness). Still, i love morning prayer meetings!!
December 2008
This is one month where i started to want to look better, by putting on fake eyelashes. And would u believe it? I can put on fake eyelashes in places such as: moving bus, moving mrt - seating and standing, and settling one eyelash within 1 min? Hahaha....
Bad bout of sinus which left me irritated and throaty (even until now).
Served for all Jurong West Christmas services on our very own Mac machines, and doing all kinds of fun stuff, which brought our visuals to another level.
Watched 2 movies within the span of 5 days. One really good movie that made me think and one that many teens are so crazy about.
Experienced favor of God, when i asked my boss on the possibility of working half-day while in SOT and got a positive response!
In Summary, 2008 has been:
- A year of vision for me (i lived this year, preparing to live out the vision of going to SOT)
- A year where my health took a backward (since i cut my gym membership to save cost) and fell sick more easily.
- A year where i watched a lot of movies (my most favorite is Iron Man. The Worst? The 3 kingdoms. Girls just doesn't like war epics)
- A year of financial turmoils (i didn't blog about the fall of Lehman Brothers, but it was so bad, my company and all of us stuck by together by taking a pay cut)
- A year where i holidayed more than ever (2 shopping trips to Bangkok is not cheap ok?! I spent like $1,000 on each trip!)
- A year where i wanna be pretty (Fake eyelashes makes me different, so different, and add a tinge of confidence on my face)
- A year of learning (the Macintosh - it's still a steep learning curve, if u haven't known it yet)
- A year where the finances stood still (just like how my pay reverted back to pre-review days after the pay cut announcement) and the cost of living swayed up and down
- A year of change (changes in the office, change in attitude and lifestyle, change in additions to my family tree, change in my role at home, from just a daughter-elder sister to daughter-elder sister-Sis in Law-姑姑)
For the good and for the bad, 2008 is over. But what awaits me is 2009. And i'm gonna set some goals which i wanna achieve.
Look out for it in the next entry.
*Ps, i took like 1.5 hours just to write this out.
