13 Entries to the 500th Posting

Ok, i admit. I'm just being, random and bo-liao.

Guess what! 13 more entries and i'll hit a half-of-a-thousand entries. How many bloggers are serious like me to keep a single blog over.... 4 years? (attention span of some youngsters who blog are weak la = they change blog address like changing clothes ('.') )

Which, i just realized, spans over coming-to 4 years?

Hmmm... pretty silent huh? Well.... i guess i crap more as i figure out more things to do on my blog:
- Html coding pick up (need to pick up more, definitely.... Spirit is willing, my flesh bo-eng!)
- Posting Youtube videos (not going to produce-and-post my own MP4 anyday now. Remember, i lead a super boring Weekday).
- Bring my blogging to another level? Well, be a socially responsible blogger. Blog the correct things at the right time. Generating passive income? Best!

I'd figure i'll hit my 500th entry somewhere in May or Early June. Then, i'll have a super duper celebration entry to mark my 500th entry! Ooh!! In time for 4th anniversary of this blog's existence.

~I love blogging, i really really do, with all my heart~

HOUSE @ 8D Dempsey Road

2 Days ago, Company celebrated our 10th year anniversary at 8D Dempsey Road.

8D Dempsey Road is located somewhere off Orchard Road, near to the Botanical Garden. And it houses 3 different facilities of:

A) Spa - House

B) Food - Barracks

C) Liquor - Camp

KB (one of the directors of the company) had reserved a dining room for us, and i must say, the food place (Barracks) is really very different from the conventional ones.

This table sits about 20 people. What u can't see from the picture is that there's a projector on the ceiling and a pull down screen for corporate meetings. Very cosy :)

Let's see the table decorations:

Nice huh? The checked cloth was the napkin for individuals. And the whole introduction, though it looks like there are tape, actually it's just a piece of paper. Comes with 3-D effect. A closer look on the introduction.

It introduces the
cocktails available at Camp. What they are trying to say is that they have really fresh cocktails that brings out the ooomph in your drinking experience. No sugared bottled juices = fresh fruits that are squashed? Probably. And, No cheapo spirits.

Talking about cocktails, we were served very nice cocktails on a Tiffin Can. Dunno what's a tiffin carrier? It looks like this.

This Tiffin Punch comes in 4 'cups' and it really comes with fresh fruits and spirits.

This is one serving of the Tiffin Punch. There's grapefruit and lychee with it's-not-pineapple ginger. And it tastes really good, with a thin taste of the liquor. I heard that the taste of lychee and ginger is heavenly, but i didn't try it, since i have no particular liking to ginger.

Tiffin Punch for 4 costs $59.

As for food, we got to order ala carte and we were given the menu.

KB ordered quite a few appetizers for us, which includes quite a bit of interesting stuff. My colleague Royston, wanted to try the 1-Meter long sausage, because he wanted to see if it's really 1 meter long. FYI, it looks 1 meter long, because KB ordered a few of it, in Pork and Chicken. For the record, the chicken one is more tasty that the pork one. i heard it from the rest who gave this comment.

Fried Sweet potatoes *nice!

Think there was over ordering of the appetizers, as half of us felt a bit full over them, even before the main dish are served. There were also specials available out of the menu. And i ordered a speciality which i can't exactly remember the name, but it's spider crab.

As u can see, there's the spider-crab, and Japanese green soba, and dessert. U might be wondering why there was a pair of gloves. The waitress mentioned that managing the crab might cause my fingers to be smelly.

Urgh, HOW DO U EAT CRAB IN A REFINED MANNER?!

I ended up focusing my time on the crab and had to get my right hand dirty to scope the crab (the crab is not exactly easy to eat - maybe i'm still an amataur at this).

I'm the first one to get my food, and the last one to finish. So u can see how much time i've taken to eat this crab.

The remnants of my meal..

Not exactly a nice sight huh? Well, i wished i didn't order this... The beer-battered fish and chips looks so yummy. Nvm, I'll save it for my next trip!

We had a birthdayAnniversary cake with 10 lit-candles and a birthday song to all of us. It's a strawberry cake, baked freshly out of the oven. And with some milk poured over it, Mummmmm.... yum!

Sinful? There's more cakes that we ordered, despite being-full-after-the-appetizers-not-to-mention-the-main-meals.

Carrot cake, chocolate, Macademia Nut
and a few others that i couldn't remember what they are

Most of the girls lapped up the desserts. As the nursery rhyme goes "girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice". And i must say, though i didn't really eat much of it, the cakes are good.

So, after much feasting and drinking, the visit to the toilet is necessary. So off we go to the toilet.

I saw 2 different doors, but there's no "Ladies" or "Gents" sign. Hmmm, which one do u think is the ladies??

The answer is pretty obvious, isnt it? Anyway, here's the answer.

The "Pussycat" is also a place to WOW about, i must say. This is the only toilet that i know of besides toilet in Century Square that has chairs - and they are cosy chairs for that matter!

This next picture tells u that it's totally impossible that this is taken in a toilet! But it is.

Before i really really forget to mention, the place here is a place that is embraced by nature, though it's really near to the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road. I took some pictures of the surroundings before all the makan started, and i must say, it's really a good place to chill out at. U are not sitting within the concrete jungle, but a greenery, refreshing place, that still, have room for liquor and good food.

The clouds look so nice! Woohoo!!

Before i exit this entry, if you are interested in good food, and a place out of the hustle and bustle on a weekday or weekend, check out
8D Dempsey Road .

For the food at Barracks, you can check
here where all the menus are available online for you to choose from, be it lunch, dinner, drinks or desserts.

Tired and yearning for a massage on a friday, after food and drinks, u can choose from House's wide range of
massages to sooth your aching bones.

It's a place u can get good food, good liquor and good desserts. Be mindful that good things don't come cheap.

Till then!

Dr Garfield and my mummy

Dr Garfield reviewed my mummy's condition on Tuesday, and did a scoping, and found the two nodules on the entrance of the voice box. And he 'smack' my mummy on the arm and said:

大姐!没有照顾好啊!

On Thursday afternoon, before the surgery started, they had a short conversation. The surgery is not the typical one which u need to do incisions. Instruments will include the scoping-like tools, and it will be done through the mouth into the voice box. Mummy had teeth implants which look au natural and good.

Dr G: Ready for operation?

Mummy: Ok.

Dr G: (Trying to be funny). Good. Btw, after this surgery, i cannot guarantee that your teeth will be intact.

Mummy: (Gave a -_-"' look)

40 mins later, the surgery was over and Mummy woke up.

Dr G: Show me your teeth.

Mummy did what was told.

Dr G: Good girl! Very nice.

Very funny and lame huh. Hehe... Dr Tan N.G. was christened Garfield, because Mummy said that he's a bit roly-poly and very fun and naughty in nature. I've never met him in person, but i think he'll be quite different, since he likes to crack not-so-funny-but-lame jokes.

Next Stop
Earth9 10th Anniversary dinner at 8D Dempsey Road. House-Barracks-Camp. Pictures galore coming up, with quite a bit of food, wine and dessert. Not to forget the nice view.

The 'in' thing to communicate with my mummy

I mentioned in my previous entry yesterday that Mommy went to the hospital today. I went to visit her after a day's work of battling with an erratic internet line (and/or the router), sibeh tight timelines, and sibeh lotsa other peoples' things to do other than my own things that need to be accomplish. Haiz, at times, i have to put aside my 'important' things for other people's important things. I guess having audit is similar with ISO audit.

a) U kill trees like nobody's business. No one gives a hoot as to how many trees were chopped off to get audit done.
b) Stress levels arise and it's not about you. Others stress you without considering your own workload and stress.
c) I get people telling me :"No matter what, u must do my thing, because "my thing" is very important." Sigh.

Before i get out of point and bring this entry into a totally different direction, anyway, i'm glad tomorrow's Friday!! Yay!!

I went to visit Mummy at the hospital. I shalt not mention the name of the place, just that's it's quite near to my office, 2 stops away. Nope, it's not Raffles Hospital.

I have to say despite how it looks on the outside, the inside is actually quite nice, and cosy. Mummy's got a B1 bed, with aircon and personal television.

Her operation was scheduled for 1.30pm today, so by the time i manage to visit her, she was already way over from awakening from the operation and stuff like that. She can't talk for the next 2 weeks, so she will have to write to communicate. And she prepared for it, with a notepad, which she 'kop-ed' from my brother yesterday.

We chatted quite a bit, i talked and she let her fingers do the talking with a notepad and pen.

Mummy went to 'check in' to the hospital at 7am. I could hear her getting out of the house at 6.45am, which 15 mins before, she was banging my bro's door to fetch her to hospital. Guess what? She only managed to get admitted (a bed allocated to her) at 12pm.

From 7am - 12pm, she was sitting at the waiting area. 5 whole hours! And to make it worse, her friends came to visit her, at the waiting area! Wha biang, where got such thing as to waiting 5 hours to get admitted and friends visit you not at the ward, but wait with u at the waiting area?! The next most bizzare thing: She said that she might be discharged tomorrow, when she was told that she had to stay till Saturday, because not enough beds. -_-"'

Besides writing with a notepad, mummy points with her fingers and, mimicks actions. Sometimes when i can't decipher what she means, she will write down.

But i guess, in a way, it's a new form of communication. She indicate very clearly on what she wants and i just follow. And with words, there's lesser conflicts because everything's written. Though she will take some time to write out what she wants, but it's clearly defined.

Not to forgetting sms-ing. She loves to write in Chinese with her 长江牌 N95, and i like replying her in mix Chinese and English. For the next 2 weeks, she can't talk at all and the only way to communicate with another person out is only by sms.

i'm gonna bomb her inbox like never before. :)

Though i will miss my mommy's voice for 2 weeks, i guess, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I still love her with or without a voice. And i guess with a lack of voice, physical communication also grew. As Chinese, we are not like Caucasians who appreciate work easily or people that much. But, to show i love my mummy, i kiss her bye-bye when i was going home, and she gladly receive it. I love u Mummy! *Muack!

Next up, i'll blog a short funny story between my mummy and her surgeon, Dr Tan 'Garfield' N.G. and it's going to be a short-short entry. U have to know, she told me the story by writing it out to me. It will be a real short and i-try-to-make-it-as-funny-as-possible entry.

Nodules in the voice box

Mummy was diagnosed to have Nodules in her voice box.

As a 土风舞 dance instructor, she needs to teach not just with actions and also using her voice. She started teaching around 2 years ago, and when she taught at the badminton court downstairs, she would use a voice amplifier to protrude her voice to teach. She will do that twice a week.

Then as she start to get more invitations to teach, she will teach elsewhere. She teaches on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. So imagine how much she need to talk.

In her day job as a Customer Service Manager, she liaises with her counterparts over the phone - which means using her voice. Can u imagine doing customer service without using your voice? Can't imagine the scenario. It will be 鸡同鸭讲, and things will get nowhere.

From since last year, she had been having quite a bit of cough, and occasional hoarseness. But since this year, her hoarseness has never ceased, though she doesn't have phlegm-sy cough. Did scoping about 2 times. Then last week she went to China for holiday, dining with all the super-duper oily stuff. And when she came back, her hoarseness went up to another level where her voice cracks.

She saw the doctor on Monday, who automatically called the hospital and 'demand' them to shorten her wait for the ENT checkup (which i don't see the point for her to wait for her supposedly check up in May 08), which she went yesterday. Thank you Healthway for expediting the process for my mummy. :)

The specialist took scoping through the nose and then spotted the growths which block the entrance of her voicebox, which causes the hoarseness.

This is the closest to what i can find on the internet to explain.

The 2 circles are added by me to indicate the growth. This is the voice box. As u can see, in the middle is actually an opening. When we speak, the 'opening' will close. But when there are nodules, it jams the closing of it which cause hoarseness.

Mummy's going for surgery tomorrow and will be out-of-action for the next 2 days at the hospital. I think this is a rather minor surgery, as the surgery will last one hour, which the nodules are removed using the scoping method. It's an uncomfortable method but at least there isn't any major incisions. However, she won't be able to talk for about 2 weeks (MC from next week onwards).

As i was writing this, mummy walked in and said that she will wait until her birthday in October to do one of her favorite pastimes: Karaoke-ing. She couldn't last a song since last year, because her voice will become hoarse. Sigh. It's a technical issue as well as a vocal box issue. I have been suaning her since January about not karaoke-ing. So hope she can sing happily when she turns 51 in october.

Before i end off, if you are experiencing any throat issues, such as hoarseness for a long while, go see ur doctor and eventually specialist. It could be a nodule as what it happened to my mummy.

Or if u have been coughing non-stop for many months, and no medicine seems to be a remedy, go take a chest x-ray. It happened to a friend of mine, who was diagnosed with Tuberculosis (TB).

In this cranky weather, take care of yourself and beware of symptoms. Stock up on vitamins when u need to. Sleep early, eat well.

Garfieldy monday

Yesterday, i went with Ivy to JB to shop, after service.

I travelled from Expo, cabbed to Ivy's then up to customs.

Everything was wonderful. We were in JB within 5 mins.

Walk-shop-massage-food and oh so yes, my SKINFOOD. :)

Lo and Behold, Malaysia Customs at 9.30pm was really amazingly crowded. It was hot, Hot, HOT. And everyone was clamming for a place on the yellow buses and the SBS Buses, which was amazingly slow as compared to the number of people. Demand is like 10 to Supply 1.

By the time i reach SG Customs, 10.30pm.

By the time i reach home, by Cab, 11.45pm.

But it's really good, JB on Sunday, is bliss. No 2-3 hours wait at customs.

Today i woke up not looking forward to work...

WHY DOES WEEKENDS PASS SO FAST?!?!

Whose fault is it?

You may not have seen/heard this news, if you are outside of Singapore.

OR u don't read local papers.

Anyway, there was some
drama that occured outside Caldecott Broadcast Center-aka-Mediacorp, between a 'citizen' and a cabby. Sigh, so much for the advocation for taxi-drivers 2 entries ago and this thing happened. I guess the rest of Singapore (and maybe the whole world) are having this negative cloud of perception against all Singaporean taxi-drivers.

It happened that this fella-aka-filmer was having the argument with the cabby for parking the wrong way. And expletives were exchanged, where 2 innocent CISCO officers tried to make peace. It ended up embarassing the cabby big-time, because even his car-plate appeared in the video itself.

Still dunno what i'm talking about? Click here
to view the video. I have to warn you, that the 4th word u are hearing is an expletive, which will repeat itself within the 3 min video. Please put your kids away before clicking it.

An
update to this drama was just out and pipping hot.

Now, Whose fault is it, exactly?

Everyone is entitled to their views on this. You can't say neither. If not, where will this drama come from?

Is it the driver? Is it 100% his fault? The update seem to get the cabby to absorb all the blame. Yes, he was rude and used expletives, and the fault started with him, because technically that's where the whole thing started.

Is it the filmer? Is it morally right for him to film this in the middle of an argument, and posting it up on the most happening video-gathering site,
YouTube with the cabby's full face and car-plate. The whole of Singapore will see it, and soon the whole wide world.

'Marvellous' work, smarty-arse, the whole world now knows how ugly we Singaporeans are.

为何为了一个人打翻一艘船?

One cabby may have attitude, but no ALL cabbies are like that. Next time, tourists wouldn't dared to take cabs when they depart from Changi Airport. Man, i foresee a massive jam at Changi-Expo-Tanah Merah Stations, if this comes to fruitation.

My take is, both are at fault. That's why the taxi-company apologize wha. But i'd figure his career as a cabby should be over, since the taxi-company HAS to protect their image. Worst, the color of the cab and car plate are so obvious, everyone will shun that car-plate definitely. The filmer earns more and more brickbats for displaying bad behavior (dirty linen) to the whole world.

What do you think? Whose fault is it?

1 week of independence

Alrighty, this week is a week of independence.

My parents are away (again) on holiday, and this time, they will be away for the full 1 week. Woo...

Sometimes, it's good that your parents are away, so u will know how important they are. Then when they are back, we can learn to appreciate them even more.

Like now, i have to cook my own packed in lunch (i miss Mommy's Yong Tau Foo soup and the extra hard cabbage rice), which i have to wake up earlier to cook it.

And now i'm the official nagger at home, to my brother, when he attempts something funny, such as bringing Furby out without the leash. I've just nagged 3 times at the door. Thankfully my darling is back in 1 whole piece. hehe.

I'm also the default care-taker to my dogs, Furby and Jerby. It's not just about cooking their meals (Caesar or beef), but also about clearing their poo and pee. It's good that they are paper-trained, but their aiming skills are still way off from perfection. Now happens to be the season of ticks, so i'm also the official tick-hunter from their bodies.

Just caught like 3 ticks from Jer, and 1 large and 1 small one from Furby.

I think ticks really have a strong life. If u are a dog-owner, you will know that it doesn't take squashing to kill off the ticks. When they are caught, you either 'drown' them, or 'burn' them. My papa the official tick-buster, taught me to burn them.

It may sound gross, but that's the only option to keep them away from your furry friends.

Initially i wanted to show u how a tick looks like, but i guess i'll better not. They are GROSS.

*****

Next happy thing is streetdirectory is finally back!!! Woohoo!!

I won't be lost anymore!!! But one word of advise, it's not the same as before. It takes time to navigate around.

Understanding the Taxi Industry better

During the past week, i've been contributing much to the Taxi Industry.

And during those long rides, instead of playing with my PSP or reading some magazine, i decided to strike up conversations with the taxi-drivers who brings me to my destination.

And it's during these conversations that i really understand how tough this industry is in.

Cabbies goes through a lot of things in their line of work.

1) Facing erratic passengers.
Firstly, i must say that there's really crappy taxi-drivers that does weird things that causes passengers to have bad thoughts of them (e.g leaving them in the middle of the expressways, touting, overcharging them by many times in the middle of the night, refusal to fetch passengers who are handicapped etc etc etc). But those taxi-drivers i'm advocating are those who are really good drivers, who are - normal.

They come face to face with danger with fetching every passenger, such as getting robbed. Ohoh, and a pet hate is where, their passengers try to act as the 'director', which at times i'm quite guilty of it. I guess such passengers will really piss them off. Not to forget those who go on the ride and run off once the cab stops.

2) Ever-rising cost
Since this year, the price of petrol oil has increased 2 times, and it's only April!

I had a conversation with a cab driver, where it went on like this:

*****
me: Uncle, u rent the vehicle right?

Taxi-Driver: yah

me: U pay every month?

Taxi-Driver: No la, the payment is daily, via GIRO.

me: Huh?? How much do u pay per day?

Taxi-driver: For my cab is about $90 per day

me: .....

Taxi-driver continues: U know ah, this $90 is just for the rental of the vehicle. Plus the petrol is est $50 per day. So each day my cost is $140.

me (in awe): HUH??? That means before u start driving, u already lost $140

Taxi-driver: Yah lor. I have to drive like 14 hours per day. I drive ah, must cover this $140 before the rest is my earnings u know.

It was in the evening time about 7.30pm that i sat in the uncle's cab.

me: Uncle, then how have u covered your cost liao?

Taxi-Uncle: Wha, i'll be in deep shit if i don't. I started driving from 5am this morning.

me (speechless): wha. Then how much have u earned.

Taxi-Uncle: Currently i have earned about $280 already. So in the sense i've already covered my rental charges for the day liao. So my earning today is $140. I need to drive another one to 2 more trips then i can go home and sleep.

me: Then u need to update your company on a daily basis, or if not they will deduct every day right?

Taxi-Uncle: No la. I rent it on a monthly basis, deduction is on daily basis la.

me: That means to maximize it u have to drive like every day, Monday to Sunday??

Taxi-Uncle: I drive 6 days per week, about 14 hours each day. Sunday i take a break. Even if i don't drive on Sunday, i still kena the daily rental charge. I not robot, i also need a rest day mah. i also need to spend time with my wife, bring her out to eat mah.

wha, Uncle is a family-oriented man, ok

me (in awe): Oh.. i see. Then how do u reduce your loss for Sundays?

Taxi-Uncle: I put aside $20 per day of earning, then Sunday i dont' drive, though i still accumulate the cost, at least already cover by Sunday mah.

*****

Looking at how this Uncle earns, let's do an analysis:

This Taxi-Uncle's daily earning is $120. Compared with an office worker who earns about $2,000 per month, the office worker earns about $90 per day. Good to be a taxi-driver?

On a monthly basis, the uncle will earn this:

Really sound good? Think again.

An average office worker works 8 hours per day. The taxi-driver works 14 hours per day.

An average office worker will have CPF contributions from him/herself and Employer. The taxi-driver has Nothing. Probably they have to contribute on their own.

Office workers will have MC entitlement, 2 days off per week. Taxi-drivers, sick, still have to drive to survive.

Not just that.

I figured that you are like me, that u are really against the 35% increment in the taxi-fares (yea, i heard ur continual cussing at the increase price), and you think that all the increment goes to the cabbies.

IT'S NOT.

They are bearing the brunt of it too. Because of this increased fare hike, the taxi queues disappear, where the drivers lost substantial income. Yes, it affected their livelihood the worst. And you think u are so miserable with this 35% hike. Esp in the morning. When they are driving you to your destination (because u woke up late for work), u think they are earning. They are on the deficit the moment they pick u up in the morning.

3) The bo-liao-est rules that restrict the taxi-drivers.
It's the rules about ONLY able to pick up passengers at taxi-stands in the CBD areas, which was declared recently.

A Taxi-Uncle told me how he was scolded by the passenger because he can only alight the passenger at the taxi-stand - and it was raining.

Understandably, u will think, "Yah lor, uncle should stop at the correct place. What if it's pregnant lady? In the rain??"

Wait. Have u considered for the cabby? While he was doing the favor, and lo and behold, a TP on a scooter stopped behind his cab. Who is going to shoulder the brunt (or fine)?

In as much as they want to , their hands are really tied.

So, do remember, in as much as they want to help, their hands are tied. So please, do not condemn them when they do not stop you at your destination in the rain.

Now, do u get my drift?

I'm not saying that i should encourage you to take cab everyday (it's not on my tab, gamsia). But in the midst of taking cab, do note that the rising deficit that you pay to the taxi-drivers, is much lesser than the taxi-drivers. They have to work their arses off to earn what u are earning, and spending much more time, physically and mentally to get their job done.

Do be nicer to them, because, They are your life-savers when u are rushing for time. If u want good service, give them the respect due to them.

Alleluia to Christ The Lord

"It is Finished!"

Yes, after 6 months of sowing into the Arise and Build from October 2007 - April 2008, i've finally finished the good fight [of the flesh, psychiatrically and financially], and settled my final instalment of the Building Fund Pledge yesterday. With that SWIPE, i sense a sense of fulfilment and happiness. Words can't describe explicitely how i am feeling now.

SUPER DUPER HAPPY!

Just yesterday, i've received something that i've wanted.

I totally didn't expect to receive vouchers for me to shop at
CapitaLand . It's really very very 用心 of Jacelyn to read me to find out what i've wanted. And in line with my Capitacard, woolala, buying things at Capitalmalls are going to be so wonderful!

Thanks for the vouchers Jacelyn! It's so timely, really :) And more so memorable on the day i've fulfilled my building fund.

GOD is so so so so .... GOOD! Alleluia to Christ the Lord!

Alleluia To Christ The Lord

Streetdirectory.com, please come back soon

It was just on Wednesday night, that i was IM-ing with Mich, and she commented that the streetdirectory website was down and she couldn't get any work done.

It was Thursday, when Shirley commented that she had difficulty doing mileage claims because streetdirectory website was down.

http://www.streetdirectory.com has been an integral part of my life, be it work or personal. I used the site to give me ideas on what buses i have to take from place to place. As compared to using a physical book copy, it allows me to see places interactively and also, guide me through to where i want to go at a much faster rate. Ur physical copy won't tell u how to get from A to B. U will probably have to figure how, flipping from one page to maybe 50 pages down the road and still won't get what u want.

I was just curious about it being down, and checked out the site. And this is what i saw.

Service Interuption for the next few days. I miss u too!!

I did a check on google and found
this .

I hereby double-chope-confirm that this website is POPULAR as said in the article, and it's the one and only one BESTEST website that is for Singaporeans and all others who have difficulty finding they way around the country in the fastest time available 24/7 and immediately (with an internet connection).

It's indeed a shame that it has infringed the copyright of SLA's maps. BUT still,it's one and only useful website that can help us up and around Singapore. No doubt the country is small in size, but we still need to navigate around with it.

Streetdirectory, please come back on Monday!! We've missed u lots and we need you badly.

We will be lost without you.

Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon

I've just watched this show, which ended about 1.5 hours ago.

And yes, now is 3am in the morning. Yes, i watched a midnight show, with my cg.

I will just depict the storyline, in my own words, here.

It's a Chinese story of how a rookie soldier, 赵子龙(Andy Lau) succeeded beyond his senior 罗平安(Sammo Hung), and rose up to be a legendary fighter in war, and the relationship between him and his senior, how it progres.. Deteriorate over the span of time of est 30 years. What entails is the history of how feudal lords of 3 states come together to unit China eventually, and how they fought to get the whole country together.

In the show, Andy Lau (or AL) joined the Army headed by Sammo Hung (or SH), because he wanted to bring peace to his state, and in the process of years, killed many enemy troops. While fighting one of the battles, the enemy is 曹婴 (Maggi Q or MQ) who aims to capture AL alive.

STOP!

Anyway, i'll save the details, if u really wanna watch the show. Overall, this show deserves a + out of +++++, in my opinion.

I'm not one who particularly like war epics. And compared with another show of Andy's (MO-GONG) in the same genre, i'd prefer Mo-gong anyday.

And what's with SH acting like a coward, and betrayal towards his fellowmen huh?! He's the martial arts director for this movie! And he's made to look like a total idiot who doesn't give any qualms about betraying his group for Glory and position. Geez.

MQ's role in the show isn't much, just that she shows her face in the last half hour of the show, playing a 琵琶 with fake long nails, long hair and furry clothings. Her killer-eyes just show the right amount of 杀气 required in her role. At some angles, she resembles Sun .

If u like this genre of shows, u might probably wanna watch. What's intriguing about this show is about the relationship between AL and SH - brotherhood, and Loyalty where AL's subordinates died in battle for glory. (A brother would rather die than betray his brother, right? And the ending just shows how vulnerable relationships can be. Words are cheap. U have to Action on it.)

Common grace about loyalty is present in this show, but how cheap words can be are also reflected.

Syantology

I love the fact that i can meet up with my school chums once every one to two months.

It's really great where friendships built in school can continue to last 4 years after graduation.

Last time, we'd bitch about this certain fella who's always yaking and complaining about group and school work, projects etc etc etc. Fastforward to the present: We'd be talking about our work and life and the many frustrations that we share at one go at our bi-monthly gatherings over dinner.

Recent topics has been hovering about our work. We'll share about the frustrations at work, and though we are in different arenas of work, but it seem apparent that the issue of salary is always at the tip of our mouths, and working relationships in the company that piss them off.

Yesterday, i met with my chums. And just randomly i just asked aloud, like, what would happen if i chose a different path, what will i be doing now? How will my life like this be different from how i've really lived my life?

Generally, it really boils down to what u really want to do, seriously.

I'm fine with doing administration, as i dont' need to worry about sales figures and stuff like that. But, it's been getting to me that:
1) My role is 包山包海, which i have an opportunity to learn more things. But it can get to be TOO many things. Wait till everything needs your attention at the same time, you won't be able to finish them, even if u are an octopus.
2) It's a thankless job at times. Ppl only recognize what u did not do, and not what u have done. It's pathetic, sad but a painful truth.
3) You bear the brunt of bad things, which is self inflicting. One word of advise: Learn to protect yourself. Don't give others an opening to shoot u down.
4) This may not be what i exactly thought it should be. What you visualize and what it really is, at many times, are all opposite. Life is a bed of roses, where it has many thorns, which prick u and make u learn.

Word of Encouragement: What does not kill you will make u a stronger person.

At times, i do feel myself reaching there, just hanging there on a thread. Imagine just dangling there for a long while, and wonder when will the thread break.

I seem to be hanging on the thread now. I've been here a few times. And every single time, i told myself to hang on.

Do i want to hang on? Yes, definitely. The blows are great, but it didn't kill me. It will make me stronger. It did for the last few times, and it will do this time.

Syantology has kicked in, slowly and surely. Have to watch it closely.
